I actually have the sidhe/her patch on my protest jacket because I'm Irish as well, though I very much meant it in the "female identified and possibly dangerous to mortals" sense. I am what most people would consider gender nonconforming (most of my haircuts involve the phrase "mowing", and my hobbies and demeanor are decidedly unfeminine) but my answer to those people is "If I say I'm a woman, and this is who I am, how the fuck do you get to decide that isn't womanly? Go take a flying poke at a rolling donut, you overreaching asshat." (My vocabulary is also not particularly genteel... oh well.)
Interesting read, I am deeply curious about what makes the difference between people who ID as non-binary and those who refuse to conform but still identify with their assigned gender.
